When there's a blackout on your base...

Use glow-in-the- dark nail polish!!

Though they aren't quite bright enough for that, they are pretty amazing. This week's offering is a layer of Lacc 1945 (which as a brand is quickly becoming a favorite of mine!). Lacc's brushes are pretty awesome for coverage - I just need to be mindful of the amount I have on it. The color is a really nice tomato-ey red - not orange at all.

On top of that, I have DIFFERENTDimension's Imitation is the Most Sincere Form of Flattery. Oh, mama. This stuff is good. I really wish I had real lighting instead of a crappy tent and a camera other than my iPod. I've got one coat on. It is slightly globby, but nothing that good control can't overcome.

And now for the pictures!!!

Normal:

I actually had a guy comment on how cool my nails looked. Sorry for the tip wear - this is actually over four days wear and I had to move a lot of stuff yesterday, so it isn't brand spanking new as I'd like it to be.

Here's a little unfocused so you can see the sparkles!

There's a lot of color in there!!

Now for what you all are waiting for - the glow in the dark effect. Now, I will have to tell you that it's much more potent than the picture shows. I just don't have a dark room to show it off :(. This baby starts glowing immediately - at sunset, you can already start seeing a little bit of teal blue cropping up. This picture is actually with a lot of light - so imagine how awesome it looks in the complete absence of light!! It's amazing, I tell you!!

Okay, back to the drudges. I have a few posts lined up, I just need to be able to have some time to myself to post them!

Xoxo,
Katie

VooDoo Chile!

Shoutout to Jimi on the title :).  This is my first attempt, so please be kind.  I know my cuticles suck horribly - I'll try to work on that!  Any tips would be well-received.

I was rarin' to try this one, because I loved the colors!  I used two coats of Camelot by A England.  Holy cow, was I in love.  That stuff goes on smoooooth, and is even and very shiny!  It is almost like a gel.

Then came the Voodoo by Crows Toes!  It took a little while for me to get it, as I had never worked with a glitter like this before.  So I apologize for the uneven-ness of each nail.  I like to say it adds to the charm ;).

I apologize for the messiness of this!!!  And the ragged cuticles.  And the really short nails.                                                                     It's a learning process!!

Three words.  80's.  Dance.  PARTY!!!!!!!  I love it.

My Collection

So I got a little crazy at http://shop.llarowe.com/ a few weeks ago.  There were too many pretty things!  They finally came in the mail and after unpacking the 30 pounds of bubble wrap it came in (hooray for good packaging!), I have them arranged on the walls of my cruddy little hut I live in.

I will do my best to show samples of everything here.  I'm so excited!!!!

Shelf 1 - Mostly Crow's Toes - I loved the way they looked in the swatches...Can't wait to try them!

This is my "Solids and Bases" shelf (mostly).  This will be my most-used items, I imagine.

Hello!

Hi!  My name is Katie, and I am spending my third deployment to the Middle East as a member of the Army.

I'm a mother of four kids and an absolutely wonderful husband.  I can't wait to get home to them!

With each deployment I pick a "deployment resolution".  This one is to stop biting my nails, as they absolutely are horrible.  I've bitten my nails since I was at least three - I started doing it because I hated my mom cutting them.

I was inspired by the lovely April of http://southernsassnsparkle.blogspot.com/ who stopped biting her nails as a tribute to her dearly departed daddy.  She also inspired me to start a nail polish collection of my own - I'm also a holographic and glitter LOVER!

I was so jealous of her posts that I had to get some bottles of my own...but first that meant I needed to grow my nails.  Welcome, and I hope you enjoy!  I can't promise I will update as regularly as I'd like, but I will when I can!

XOXO,
Katie
